The Doors Division with the Wood Solutions and Glass Solutions Business Units is one of the leading european suppliers of interior doors and frames from wood as well as shower enclosures.
The Doors Division consists of the Wood Solutions and Glass Solutions Business Units since the integration of the previous Sanitary Equipment Division in 2021.
The Wood Solutions Business Unit, comprising the companies Prüm, Garant, Invado, RWD Schlatter and Joro, is one of Europe’s leading providers of interior wooden doors and frames. The business unit has five production sites: three in Germany and one each in Switzerland and Poland. In the domestic markets, it offers its customers a comprehensive range of products from standard doors to complex functional doors.
As a specialist for shower enclosures and glass systems, the Glass Solutions Business Unit offers convincing solutions for all generations, lifestyles and types of residences. Thanks to its strong brands Kermi, Koralle, and Baduscho, it is the market leader in Europe. In addition to the two integrated production sites in Germany and the locally oriented manufacturing in Switzerland, it operates internationally through distribution companies.

The Doors Division continues to work towards the goal of expanding its leading position as a Central European supplier of doors and glass solutions. Through investments into increasing capacity and productivity already made and and acquisitions, as well as by increasing market shares in its home and target markets, the division aims to achieve net revenues of around CHF 900 million and a corresponding EBITDA margin of >15.0% by 2028.
The capacity expansion of the Doors Division is happening faster than originally planned. Since 2017, the capacity has already been increased by around 25% from around 2.1 million doors and frames respectively to currently 2.6 million per year. Once the majority of the growth investments have been completed in 2022 with the commissioning of the new plant for door frames in Weinsheim (D) in 2023, the division will be able to produce around 3.4 million doors and frames each per year with the same number of employees. The capacity increase of over 60% since 2017 will allow the division to discontinue the expensive shifts currently required due to the high demand and order volume, which will have an additional positive effect on margins.
The focus of the Doors Division continues to be on the strategic, multi-year investment programme for increasing productivity and expanding capacity with the goal of improving delivery performance and the market position. A large part of the investment volume went into the capacity expansion of the two German door plants Prüm and Garant. The new "plant of the future" is currently being built at Prüm in Weinsheim (DE). Work on the new door frame plant was started in February 2020, the hall has been completed in the meantime (see picture on the right, status: August 2022) and will be equipped with machines in 2022. In order to optimise the logistical process handling in the finished parts warehouse in the future and to create an increase the storage capacities, Prüm also invested in a second high-bay warehouse.
As a result of these investments, the Wood Solutions Business Unit will be able to produce around 900 000 more doors with corresponding frames than before across all locations in 2023/2024. In addition, a combined heat and power plant (CHP) is being planned and built at Prüm and Garant to process the wooden materials into electricity and heat. With these plants, the two factories will largely produce their own energy needs in the future and thus be able to decouple themselves from rising energy prices.
Following the integration of the former Sanitary Division, now the Glass Solutions Business Unit, the focus here continues to be on increasing productivity, expanding the market-leading position in Central Europe as well as in the neighbouring Eastern European markets. In addition, synergies in sales with the Wood Solutions Business Unit are intended to strengthen contract sales in particular.
Furthermore, the Glass Solutions Business Unit is a good example of Arbonia's strategy of selectively increasing its added value. With the acquisition of Glasverarbeitungs-Gesellschaft Deggendorf mbH (GVG), a subsidiary of the SAINT-GOBAIN Group and one of Germany's leading glass processing companies in the single-pane safety glass and laminated safety glass segments, the Glass Solutions Business Unit has integrated the processing of its most important raw material, glass, into its own production processes. This enables the procurement times for glass to be optimised further and very flexibly, and process costs in handling to be reduced significantly. The division also reduces its dependence on external partners.

In addition to modern heating systems and innovative pumps, high-quality doors from GARANT Türen und Zargen GmbH are used.
