THE CIRCLE - the largest building construction site in Switzerland
The Project
On the site of Zurich Airport, 180,000 square metres of gross floor space are currently being built in six buildings as well as a park. Among other things, a medical centre of the Zurich University Hospital, two hotels, offices and a congress centre for up to 2,500 visitors are to be built here. More than 1,000 construction workers are in the process of spending around one million Swiss francs a day. The owners of the billion-euro project are Flughafen Zürich AG and Swiss Life AG.
The project was launched in 2015, followed by the laying of the foundation stone in 2017 and the topping-out ceremony in 2019. If everything goes according to plan, THE CIRCLE will still be in operation in 2020.
The general contractor HRS Real Estate AG has commissioned RWD Schlatter to install over 8,000 doors for THE CIRCLE. All doors are produced in a highly automated process at the Roggwil plant. In addition, Prolux and Arbonia Solutions, as further subsidiaries of the Arbonia Group, were allowed to supply radiators and convectors.
The project managers benefit from the Arbonia Group's service. The individual Swiss Arbonia companies work hand in hand and are linked to each other via a single contact person on the Arbonia side. What is special about this major project is the tight space conditions on the construction site - whereby the currently important spacing rules are observed at all times. The logistical challenges are correspondingly great; every delivery is planned precisely.
